My sim as of late has had a LOT of new traffic, many of whom are new players. We’ve seen a huge lift in both traffic and new player visits since being listed in the showcase on Secondlife.com. We have always tried to make the sim new-player friendly, and have always had a collection of freebie boxes at the main landing point to help them out, but I’ve had two ideas in my head for some time now that I decided it was time I put into action and I’ve finally got them up and running and want to share them with you all.
First, these nifty 30-day gift giver sidewalk vendors that I’ve given to all my store owners in the sim. I think having these new player gifts along the streets is a great welcome message. You’ll find these Chalkboards outside many of the stores in Paris New York, each gives a player the gift (if they are under 30 days). Next is what I call my “Noob Donation Box”. I don’t know about you, but I am constantly sorting my inventory trying stuff on, and I look at something that maybe just isn’t my style, or doesn’t fit me quite right… and you go to throw it away… and it’s transfer. You KNOW somewhere out there, there’s a noob wearing no shoes, and a pair of cobalt blue pants that would DIE for this outfit. So, I box it up, and put it in a folder called ‘Give to Noobies’ thinking someday I will shower a noob with gifts and make their day. Well, hopefully I’ve done better. I created the noob box (with a help from the most awesome scripter friend of mine Fnordian Link, who also helped me with the sidewalk board script). I fill it up with my spare stuff, and if a player 30-days or younger clicks it, it gives them a random gift from the box. The trick is they are only allowed one per day. I havent finished the design for the box just yet, so for now I have the only functioning one at the Paris New York sim. Once I have a nice low-prim version of these babies, I’ll put them up for sale so you too can empty your closet and make a noob’s day!

I just HAD to beat Jes to this post! hehe. Elate! just released this new dress called Maria. It comes in 5 colors. You can wear them with or without the rose collars (but I LOVE the collars). Unfortunately, the rose collars are no mod, so you can’t tint them, but if you have the whole set (like I do, hehe) you can mix and match the colors =) Kelli Iwish, the designer also made a matching set of rings, and the pink one is FREE FREE FREE! You can get it by subscribing to the hippogroup subscribey thingie. Look in history. Take a peek, they are gorgeous!!!:

Yea I fought the crowd….and guess what….these are all mine!
Funny enough…when I was packing them away neatly in my inventory, careful of course not to get misplaced or lost in the fold, I realized i had a folder called “strappy” for these type of shoes. I have an entire folder of sub par strappy shoes that I forgot all about. Not that I’m going to wear them now, but nice to know they’re there i guess.. *grins*
I’m going to be like my brother when he got his first pair of Nike Air Jordans, never take them off…rain or shine…sleeping or bathing…and yes his feet stank! It’s the price for beauty.

Second Life
Do you still have a newbie pic? Yep for sure I do. I have a lot of them. I remember when I thought 350L for hair was outrageous. But I had one from Pazazz and one from Calla, and a noob skin that I thought was pretty awesome. The rest of my stuff I used to get from lucky chairs. This dress was from a Panjen lucky chair.

What brought you to Second Life?
I had a project for work that my boss had recommended it for – so I had to get up to speed so I knew what I was talking about. I didn’t want to do it… in fact I was pretty vocal about it. So I logged in on a Friday night, didn’t sleep at all that weekend, and have logged in pretty much every day since.
How much time do you spend on SL a day or week?
About 6 hours a day on weekdays, at least 12 on weekends.
What reason in your RL drives you to be addicted to SL?
I think there are 2 reasons. I’m a creative a heart, and my RL job no longer allows me to be as creative as I’d like, so building is a lot of fun for me. The other is because I’m not that outgoing in RL. SL makes it easy for me to socialize and make friends.
What do your family and friends think of SL?
They think I am crazy, and are pretty much ready to do an intervention.
What’s the most important thing you’ve blow off RL to go into SL for?
Work. lol
What will you do when there is no more SL?
Whatever the ‘next’ big thing is I suppose. Key difference is that no matter where I end up, this place has given me things I will have for the rest of my life – my hunneh bunneh for one.
Fashion
Who’s your favorite clothing designer?
Omg, just one? /me ponders… well, I have more Pixeldolls than anything else in my inventory, so Nephilaine Protagonist is probably it. Though I have many new designers who I love like Fishy Strawberry and Elate!
Who is your favorite shoe designer?
Storm Schmooze – wait no Redgrave – wait no Shiny Things… aw hell. I love them all.
Who is your favorite hair designer?
Since Jes said we can’t all say ETD, then I gotta say Maitreya.
What is your favorite assesory, and why?
My wedding ring because Max made it for me himself.

What is your take on sculptie shoes and hair?
Its funny – I don’t usually buy non-sculptie shoes anymore, but sometimes Max will take photos of me because my hair or shoes don’t rez and I look ridiculous and end up changing. But I love meh scuwpty shoos.
How much Linden do you spend a week on clothes?
I don’t spend too much because I’m in a few freebie groups and I’m addicted to hunts, but I do end up buying stuff along the way. I’d say I average a few thousand Linden a week.
What is the most you’ve ever spent on one outfit or pair of shoes?
I dun remenmba. But it was a lot.
Lucky chairs and hunts, good or bad?
BAD BAD BAD. Why? Because I am hooked. Max gets so annoyed at me because he’s busy working on a script, going ‘wow, look what I did!’ and I’m trying on pumpkin hats and slippers. I love the hunts, but they take a lot of time, clog up my inventory and take a lot of time to go through. But gosh do I get some good stuff. Plus lots of times its how I find new designers… so, oh well. Can I change my answer to good???
Which do you hate the most, no copy, no trans or no mod?
Well, I love mod, and I love trans. I could give up copy for trans in a heartbeat.
Relationships
Which Sex and the City character(s) do you best relate to?
I have no idea. Just ask Jes, I don’t watch TV. But I have seen it a couple of times… I used to be the slutty girl, now I’m the married one (except my husband RAWKS).
Are you in a RL relationship, and if so how is it affected by SL? and/or how is SL affected by your RL relationship?
My SL partner is now my RL partner. But it wasn’t always that way. I think it’s very hard, if not impossible to be in a SL relationship and not have it impact your RL relationship. I definitely think it’s cheating – for me anyway. I can’t speak for anyone else. If my RL relationship led me to seek a partner in SL, well then, something was wrong in RL.
How many times have you been partnered in SL?
Just once. I married Max on June 29th of this year.
What is your take on SL kids, do you have any or want any?
Same as in RL. I’m allergic.
In SL relationship (and friendships) what bugs you? ie. clingy, needy, afk, etc.
I guess same as RL – I’m not too keen on dishonesty. I’d prefer someone tell me to buzz off then disappear and create an alt… and not worry about how other people feel when they disappear. The person behind the avatar is a person, and has feelings. In many cases, feelings can even surpass RL.
How did the SL man of your dreams sweep you off your feet? if you’ve not yet been swept, then how do you wish for this to happen?
I met my partner at a wedding. We were inseparable ever since. We decided to meet RL in Paris in July – so when he proposed in SL, of course I said yes. He built me the Eiffel tower for the ceremony, the one that’s the center of Paris New York now. So yeah, we married on the Eiffel Tower and then had our RL honeymoon in Paris. ^^
Do you have SL sex, and if so does it turn you on?
Well, our poseballs don’t get nearly as much use since we went RL.
What’s your favorite sexual position (pose)?
Anything made by happy dispatch.

The 4 of us sat down today and were brainstorming a way to kick off the site. How to introduce ourselves…blah blah blah
We came up with 20 or so questions to help fill in the background.
Our goal is to keep this site fairly transparent and as true to ourselves, SL and RL, as possible. All those taboo topics and questions you know your thinking but wouldn’t dare to say…yup that’s gonna be here.
Second Life

What brought you to Second Life? My boyfriend, at the time - late ‘06, introduced me to SL. He was trying to keep me busy and distracted from our sexless relationship. It didn’t work and hence he’s now an ex.
How much time do you spend on SL a day or week? Too much! I’d really hate to admit that, it’s an every night kinda thing.
What reason in your RL drives you to be addicted to SL? It’s actually kinda funny because I’m super social and love being out and about, but I think Second Life feeds my need for social environment and my lazy bug of being able to do it in my pj’s.
What do your family and friends think of SL? To them its one of those things that sounds cool, but they don’t quite get it. All they know is it must be really important or work related because I don’t seem to have any time for them.
What’s the most important thing you’ve blown off in RL to log in SL for? I can’t think of anything major. But I’ve been known to use SL as a reliable procrastination tool.
What will you do when there is no more SL? What??? Is this some sort of rumor that SL is going down?? Shut up, you’re kidding…..right?

Who’s your favorite clothing designer? Right this second it’s Elate! I honestly bought her entire store in two days. Her dresses are absolutely fabulous in a….”I’m running out the door and need to find something to throw on that matches these shoes” kinda way.
Who is your favorite shoe designer? Ok this is a loaded questions, I’m a total shoe whore and damn proud of it. For the neko in me, I <3 my Fifferling Boomer Boots. For the slut in me I love Maitreya Slinky Stilettos. And for the funky in me I’m diggin’ Canimal’s Boneyard releases.
Who is your favorite hair designer? Hmmmm…my collection of wigs would need their own closet. I own over half of ETD easy! But right now my current obsession is House of Heart and mix matching the bangs around.
What is your favorite accessory, and why? This is going to sound kinda stupid. But my all time favorite accessory is this cute little robot necklace from Fuel, he has pink eyes *grins* Pink and Geek, what more could I ask for?
What is your take on sculptie shoes and hair? Sculptie hair and shoes are the bomb as long as they’re made well and rez. Otherwise you have a head of mess and balls with no chains attached to your feet (just not as sexy).
How much Linden do you spend a week on clothes? Waaaaay too much. And more then I’m willing to admit here. Think I can write it off as a medical expense? For the love of god I shop or DIE!
What is the most you’ve ever spent on one outfit or pair of shoes? The most I’ve ever spent on anything was a X2 skin back in the day, admittedly a damn fine purchase at the time.
Lucky chairs and hunts, good or bad? Lucky chairs are good as long as you’re at a good store. And shame on those designers who put their defects in the lucky chairs - I got my eye on you. And I’m typically too lazy for hunts, but on an off day they’re fun.
Which do you hate the most, no copy, no trans or no mod? No Mod! I have a big head and a big ass, modify rights is a MUST!
Relationships
Which Sex and the City character(s) do you best relate to? Carrie w/ a large dose of Samantha. I’m endlessly looking for that perfect man, where is my Big? I’m horrible at relationships and I’m not ashamed to admit that. Commitment freaks me out. And I have an inner slut in me that sneaks out on as many occasions as she can.
Are you in a RL relationship, and if so how is it affected by SL? and/or how is SL affected by your RL relationship? NOPE. I’m convinced all the good men are taken. All my life I looked up to my father as the “perfect man”, until recently I found out even he has his faults. I still love’m to death, but obviously “the one” just doesn’t exist for me. In the meantime I’ll just have some fun. *shitgrin*
How many times have you been partnered in SL? Oi. 5 or 6. It’s no longer on my to do list.

Hell some of the hottest experiences for me weren’t even on pose balls, just standing or sitting there and conversing in chat.
